Abstract

Tourism has been seen as a luxury that privileged segments have in history, but recently it has created a service sector that people of different classes and identities can reach. On the other hand, the Turkish tourism sector, which does not realize the demographic aging globally and nationally, can not direct the necessary investment in this important area. The all-inclusive model, which serves the younger and economically more disadvantaged people, is more popular than the 60 year-old and above, which constitutes the majority of foreign tourists coming to Turkey, from being overlooked. However, this model does not appeal to elderly tourists who are more likely to contribute to tourism and who demand cultural interaction and learning opportunities that the all-inclusive service model can not provide. As a result the elimination of these deficiencies is of great importance for development as well as for the benefit of international recognition and prestige.
