TURNOVER AND SALES STRUCTURE OF NURSERY PLANTS IN THE NETWORK OF LARGE STORES DIY

Abstract

The rapid development of large stores, including supermarkets and DIY stores (Do it Yourself) with the large “garden” sections, contributes to the growing importance of this distribution channel of ornamental plants in Poland. The aim of this study was to assess the turnover and sales structure of nursery plants in one of the largest networks of DIY stores and to evaluate the meaning of this distribution channel in the sale of this type of product. The analyzes showed that the DIY chain of stores sells nursery products on a relatively large scale, as evidenced in 2014 by the turnover of this material equal to 14.5 million PLN and 1.1 million plants sold.
