UKRAINIAN STATE-OWNED BANKS LOAN PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS

Abstract
The research is devoted to the analysis of the current trends in the Ukrainian state-owned banks loan activities with special attention attached to the issues connected with the banks’ loan portfolio and the possible ways of their solution. The article not only analyses the state-owned banks assets and the loan portfolio dynamics but also compares the latter with the main tendencies in the domestic banking system in general. The comparison reveals a decrease in the share of the state-owned banks assets loan portfolio which can be explained by an increase in the share of the domestic state-owned bonds in the state-owned banks’ assets. The dynamics of loans issued by the state-owned banks in terms of the borrowers is estimated (i.e. the ratio of legal entities and private individuals), in particular it is determined that in the structure of the spoken banks’ loan portfolio the legal entities loans significantly prevail. The reasons for the loan activities low efficiency and the growth of non-performing loans in the Ukrainian state-owned banks are highlighted; the analysis of the non-performing loans share in the Ukrainian banking system in general and the state-owned banks in particular is performed. In conclusion, the article outlines possible ways of reducing the non-performing loans amount in the Ukrainian state-owned banks.
