Ultrasonic Guided Wave Plate-Like Structural Health Monitoring Under Varying Temperature

Abstract

The ultrasonic guided wave structure health monitoring technique was easy to be affected by temperature interference in the defect diagnosis of plate structure, which affected the accuracy of array damage imaging. In order to overcome the effect of temperature change on damage detection, based on optimal baseline selection ( OBS) and baseline signal stretch ( BSS) , the improved method was proposed. The reference signal was screened by OBS, then the time shift was added to each wave packet, and the temperature compensation was completed by BSS. The improved method widened the temperature acquisition range from 1 ℃ to 10 ℃, and compensated each wave packet on the signal by time shift. Combined with the ellipse algorithm method, the relative error of imaging was less than 9% at the varying temperature. The experimental results show that the improved method is effective and accurately identifies the structural damage under ambient temperature change.
