Undergraduate Students’ Perceptions Regarding the Environment: Discuss, Draw, and Write Down

Abstract
This study aims to present senior undergraduate students’ perceptions regarding their desired living environment. Following an elective course program, students were asked “Could you draw a picture in which you would like to live and explain why?” The research was based on qualitative technique; briefly called in literature discuss, draw, and write down. Participation in this study was voluntary. This research project was conducted at a university located in the Black Sea region. The data were analyzed based on content analysis technique with a theoretical framework. While analyzing drawings, participants’ essays were also used. Codes and themes were created after the drawings were done. Based on findings, it can be said that participants accepted the borders between wealthy and relatively poor neighborhoods; preferred to have shopping malls for security and socializing, and drew quite limited living organisms.
