UNIFICATION OF LAW: QUESTION OF TERMINOLOGY

Abstract
The article deals with the issue concerning the definition of the term “unification of law”, in terms of the existence of the variety of doctrinal approaches used for its interpretation. Examination of different scholarly views, both Ukrainian and foreign, on the concept of unification of law has revealed the existence of two approaches: the narrow and the broad understanding of the concept. Comparative investigation into the issue of correlation ofthe neighboring terms such as “unification of law”, “harmonization of law” and “convergence of legal systems”allows to conclude that unification of law can be seen asa process of creation and application of uniform legal rules as well as similar, harmonized law in certain fields that leads to the convergence of national legal systems.
