Unusual Fusion Of Premolar And Molar : Case Report
Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Abstract: Odontogenic anomalies of teeth can be encountered frequently in dental practice. Fusion is the union of two normally separated tooth germs resulting in the formation of a single large tooth. The prevalence of this anomaly is less than 1% and most common in the primary dentition, in the incisor-canine region. Fusions are almost always unilateral, but few cases of bilateral fusions have been reported. The purpose of this article is to report a rare case fusion of maxillary second premolar with molar. These anomalies pose a challenge even to the most experienced clinician in the management. This article highlights the importance of clinical and radiographic correlation in arriving at a definitive diagnosis. Keywords: Odontogenic anomalies, teeth, premolar
