Управление иностранными колониями в России в 1760-е гг.: замысел, практика, кадры

Abstract
The article shows the principles of managing foreign colonies in Russia during the early period of their existence. Along with characterizing the activities of special government authorities the author focuses on the situation in the “recruiters” colonies, where administrative functions initially belonged to private persons – recruiters who at the same time became the directors of new settlements. The paper analyzes the conditions of the colonies’ internal organization as well as of recruiters’ activity according to their contracts with the Chancellery of guardianship of foreigners, that gives the idea about the intent and planned model of life and government in the colonies. The author also proposes a vision about the reasons of inefficiency of the recruiters’ administration in foreign colonies in Russia.
