URBAN COMMUNITY IN CRISIS? From Narrowing to Extending of the Community. From Sharing to Exclusion. The Smart City Concept and Important Challenges it Cause for the Urban Community

Journal Title: Miscellanea Anthropologica et Sociologica - Year 2018, Vol 19, Issue 1

Abstract

The paper refers to the popular smart city paradigm to analyze the visions and challenges it carries for contemporary urban communities. The paper doesn’t refer to explicitly critical aspects of the control or corporate nature of Smart City projects, but focuses on the potentials and challenges for urban communities and urban researchers themselves. In this context, I describe two crucial issues: the question of “the extension of the urban community” and the role of the sharing economy in smart city concept.
