Urinary tract infections in diabetic patients in metabolic impairment period , treated in Emergency Department.

Abstract
Diabetic patients are particularly exposed to infection development. Risk of infection occurrence increases in course of escalation of diabetes metabolic impairment. One of most frequent forms of infectious complications in this group of patients is urine tract infection.Assessment of etiological factors of urine tract infections in patients with impaired diabetes treated in ER was the goal of this study.Material and methods. The investigation included group of 20 patients with metabolic impairment of diabetes hospitalized in ER of UCS in Bialystok. Patients hospitalized during period of 30 days preceding admission to ER were excluded. Etiology of urinary tract infection at the admission to ER was analysed, and it was compared to pathogens urinary tract infections in patients of diabetic ward.
