Urolithiasis and Osteoporosis — the Two Faces of One Problem

Abstract
Urolithiasis and osteoporosis are not only medical but also social problems. There are common pathogenetic mechanisms of these diseases, one of which is the occurrence of secondary hyperparathyroidism against hypocalcemia and vitamin D deficiency, leading to increased bone resorption and, consequently, violations of the structural and functional state of bone tissue, development of urolithiasis. The article gives clinical examples of various therapeutic approaches in patient depending on the degree of changes in bone mineral density, presense of risk and history of of fractures in combination with urolithiasis.
