Use of E-journals among Science PG students at Universities in Lucknow

Abstract
Purpose –The purpose of this study is to find out the use and awareness of e-journals among science PG students at universities in Lucknow. Design/methodology/approach – A survey was conducted to examine the use and awareness of e-journals among science PG students at universities in Lucknow. Stratified random sampling is used for selecting the respondents for this study. A well-structured questionnaire was administered to 550 P.G. students to collect data regarding the use of e-journals. Findings –The study reveals that 69.7 % students are aware of e-journals and they are not only using them for updating their knowledge, collecting relevant material for their study and research purposes and for writing articles. They are fully agree that the e-journals are essential for their research and study and most of the students are satisfied with available e-journals at their university library. Poor internet connectivity is the obstacle in proper and full utilization of e-journals. Practical implications – The study provides some recommendations on the basis of findings of the study which in turn will help to enhance the use of e-journals and fulfill the needs and requirements of students in university libraries in Lucknow. Originality/value – Number of studies have been conducted on the use of e-journals, but this study is may be first of its kind among science P.G. students within universities in Lucknow.
