Usefulness of Pleural Fluid C - reactive protein in Diagnosing Etiology of Pleural Effusion

Abstract

The aim of the study is to evaluate the sensitivity of pleural fluid CRP in identifying parapneumonic effusions. Methods: A single centre cross sectional study comprising of 50 patients was done at madras medical college and patients were divided into four groups according to their type of pleural effusion as follows: tuberculous, malignant, parpneumonic effusions and others and the pleural fluid CRP measured.
