Usefulness of projects realized within Baltic Sea Region for maritime spatial planning in Poland

Abstract

For years, the Baltic Sea Region projects are in the area of issues related to the process of Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP). Authors of the article decided to investigate whether the Baltic Sea Region project outcomes may be deemed useful as regards the Polish MSP process. First, an identification and review of the range of projects relevant to the needs of the maritime spatial planning has been made. As a result about 300 projects has been identified. Next the authors obtain information about the data (from Polish part of the Baltic Sea) collected and used in the selected projects. The analysis of the usefulness of the results of projects including the once devoted directly to the MSP process has been made. In the end of the process authors elaborated conclusions and recommendations for future which certainly will be useful for decision makers.
