Using cloud technologies in the video game industry
Journal Title: Modern Innovations, Systems and Technologies - Year 2024, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
In the modern world, the gaming industry occupies a leading position among the entertainment spheres. Many video game studios and companies are looking to expand their customer base. They use cloud technologies to provide video game services to potential users who do not have the opportunity to purchase a high-performance personal computer. For new potential customers or studios who want to implement this technology, it is important to understand its performance indicators in comparison with a stationary machine and what possible costs may arise. This article discusses in detail the technologies of major players in the cloud video game product market. They were also compared with a personal computer, which is their direct competitor. Graphs of the flow of active users of these services have been compiled to analyze the demand for this cloud technology. The architectures of popular applications specializing in video game cloud services have also been studied for a deeper analysis. Based on the results of the study, this article will draw a conclusion on the feasibility of using cloud technology for both studios and ordinary users and make recommendations for improving cloud technology.
