Abstract
The article covers the struggle of Rudolf I of Habsburg with Henry of Carinthia for the crown of the Kingdom of Czech, which began after the death of the last representative of male branch of the Prshemyslovych dynasty King Vaclav III, and finished with ascending the Czech throne by John of Luxembourg, who signed with Czech masters a charter that provided substantial gains to the Czech elite thus legally limited royal power. As well as showing the political role played by the Czech political leadership in this fight.
