Validation of an instrument to determine the hospital readmission of the elderly adult with high blood pressure

Abstract
Introduction: Chronic non-communicable diseases are the main cause of global morbidity and mortality; among them, arterial hypertension that affects mainly to older adults, who according to multiple factors present relapses or readmissions that cause the deterioration of the patient and increase the expense disease healthcare. Objective: To validate an instrument to determine the hospital readmission of the elderly with arterial hypertension. Materials and methods: The research has an observational, descriptive cross-sectional design; quantitative mode. The quantitative instrument designed was validated by a trial of experts and statistically analyzed with Cronbach's Alpha coefficient; I know used a pilot test composed of 15 hypertensive older adults. Results: Due to the validation of the experts, the questionnaire obtained a result of 98.3 and in the Cronbach's alpha of 0.95; both scores are indicative of excellent reliability. Conclusion: The instrument is reliable, it has the parameters of validity, relevance and coherence so they can be applied to determine the hospital readmission of older adults with arterial hypertension.
