Minimally invasive approach for inguinal herniorrhaphy versus conventional surgery in Pediatrics, a comparative análisis

Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2023, Vol 5, Issue 4

Abstract

Introduction:Surgical correction of inguinal hernias in pediatrics has been performed conventionally with good results. Currently, minimally invasive surgery is being developed with encouraging results. Therefore, it is imperative to develop research to analyze the best therapeutic option. Objective:Compare minimally invasive surgical techniques versus conventional surgery for correction of inguinal hernias in pediatrics. Materials and Methods:The study is retrospective, descriptive, observational and correlational. Using non-probabilistic convenience sampling, pediatric patients undergoing surgical treatment for inguinal hernia entered the study. Results:234 patients were included in the study, 120 boys (51.3%) and 114 girls (48.7%), with an average age of 47.38 months. Most surgeries (62%, 145 cases) lasted between 30 and 60 minutes. 29 cases (12.4%) developed complications, highlighting the poor aesthetic result in 19 patients (8.1%). Silk was used in 26 (33.8%) percutaneous surgery patients, while polyglactin was used in 100 (100%) patients in conventional surgery Conclusions:Minimally invasive surgery for inguinal hernia repair in children has good results. Burnia stands out as being exclusive to women with lower complication rates due to its shorter duration. The need for careful and accurate selection in planning proceduresis highlighted, which can lead to better results and more effective recovery in these patients
