Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2020, Vol 2, Issue 3

Abstract

In order to guide the re-search process and as part of the mul-tidisciplinary team in health care, it is proposed to apply a pilot plan for the validation of instruments prior to the thesis project of the Master of Public Health at the State University of Milagro “ UNEMI ” third cohort group B. Objective: To validate an instrument to measure the in-fluence of lifestyles on the development of non-communicable diseases. Methodology: It is a non-experimental research, under the quantitative paradigm with a descriptive cross-sectional research de-sign. Techniques such as clinical obser-vation, semi-structured interviews, a sur-vey (STEPS version 3.0 de la OMS) that includes measurement of body mass in-dex parameters and a laboratory history of high levels of blood pressure, glucose, lipid values, etc., were used to determi-ne the presence of non-communicable diseases and anthropometric measure-ments. The study population is made up of 20 people who work in the ESPOL stu-dent welfare unit in the month of Septem-ber of the 2019 school period and, becau-se it is a small population, the sample is of a census type, that is, it worked with the population total study. Results: women have a higher risk of having cardiovascu-lar problems according to the ICC anthro-pometry, most of the personnel who work in Polytechnic Welfare have type I obesi-ty, half of the surveyed population has a history of high cholesterol. Conclusion:the instrument designed is suitable for measuring the influence of lifestyles on the development of non-communicable diseases, the results of which allowed the design of a comprehensive health care project aimed at the aforementioned po-pulation in order to contribute to a quality of life healthy and thus be able to reduce the rates of non-communicable diseases in the intervened population
