ВАСИЛЬ КОРОЛІВ-СТАРИЙ: МАЛА ПРОЗА МІЖВОЄННОЇ ДОБИ

Abstract
The article deals with the genre and thematic vector of the short prose of the Ukrainian emigrant writer Vasyl Koroliv-Staryi. It is to be noted that the author’s works are based on realistic traditions with a wide usage of motives of Ukrainian and world folklore. The main genres in his work are fairy-tales and short stories. The themes of his works, written for both young and adult reader, are being considered in various aspects (school life, relationships between children and adults, religious issues, liberation struggle etc.); however, the subject of child upbringing is a dominant one. Some of the stylistic features, highlighted in the present article are psychologism, didacticism, philosophy, humor, and expressive means. It is summarized that creativity of the distinguished master of the word is promising for further academic research.
