VERBALIZATION OF THE SPECIFIC FEATURES OF NATIONAL JAPANESE CULTURE IN THE NOVEL “MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA” BY A. GOLDEN

Abstract
This article deals with specific features of national Japanese culture on the case study of the novel “Memoirs of a Geisha” by A. Golden. It is defined denotative (material and spiritual values) and onomastic realia (anthroponyms and toponyms), which is presented by political and governmental names, religious, cultural and geographical names (countries, states, towns, streets and regions, rivers, lakes, mountains, religious monuments of culture, vents, companies). It is proved that such realias are used to form space continuum, in which the events are occurred and make the reader understand ethnocultural features. Using semantic classification of realia by V. Vinogradov, S. Vlasov, S. Florin denotative realias which relate to traditions, customs, art and social phenomena are defined. Their usage in the novel “Memoirs of a Geisha” helps reader to percept specific Japanese customs, traditions, rituals.
