Viewpoint Feature Histogram Optimization Algorithm for Point Cloud Target Recognition

Abstract
In order to improve the recognition rate and enhance the robustness of point cloud target recognition algorithm, a point cloud target recognition algorithm (CSHOT-VFH) by combining color signature of histograms of orientations (CSHOT) operator and viewpoint feature histogram (VFH) operator was proposed.VFH features were used to identify point cloud targets and achieve fast target estimation.Based on that, CSHOT features were used to identify accurately.The experimental system was set up.Single object scene, multi object scene and target part occlusion were tested.The test results show that the recognition rate of proposed algorithm is above90%.Compared with the VFH algorithm, the recognition rate is improved by more than 10% in the two experiments of target occlusion, which meets the demand of target detection in indoor scene.
