ВИКОРИСТАННЯ МУЛЬТИМЕДІЙНОГО КОМП’ЮТЕРНОГО КУРСУ ДЛЯ УДОСКОНАЛЕННЯ ФОНЕТИЧНОЇ КОМПЕТЕНТНОСТІ МАЙБУТНІХ УЧИТЕЛІВ АНГЛІЙСЬКОЇ МОВИ ЯК ДРУГОЇ ІНОЗЕМНОЇ

Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of organizing self-study work of future teachers of English as a second language. Purpose. To test the multimedia computer course “Sound English” (its structure, reflexive model of improving phonological competence and subsystem of exercises) in the process of teaching English as a second foreign language. Methods. Trying the multimedia computer course in the process of teaching English as a second language and analyzing the outcome. Results. Of all the language competences the lowest levels of mastery takes phonological competence. The key factors that influence phonological skills and cause fossilized pronunciation are: 1) limited time for teaching English as a second language; 2) a gap year between learning English at school and at the university; 3) individual psycho-physiological features of students; 4) lack of modern teaching and learning materials, especially for self-study work; 5) the first (Oriental) foreign language. It is proved that learning diary is an effective means for forming the professional part of phonological competence. The suggested structure and the complex of exercises of the multimedia computer course can be used for creating a similar course for forming phonological competence in self-study work. Conclusion. To sum up, the multimedia computer course “Sound English” can be recommended as the means for organizing self-study work of future teachers of English as a second language
