Vitamin D ve Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract
Son yıllarda yapılan epidemiyolojik çalışmalarda D vitamini eksikliği ile Tip 1 ve Tip 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) gelişimi arasında ilişki gösterilmiştir. Deneysel çalışmalar da D vitaminin DM patogenezinde rolü olabileceği görüşünü desteklemiştir. Ayrıca D vitamini replasmanının uzun dönemde DM gelişme riskini azaltabileceği bildirilmektedir. D vitamini koruyucu etkilerini immün sistem ve kalsiyum metabolizması üzerinden gerçekleştirmektedir. Vitamin D’nin ayrıca beta hücreleri üzerine de direkt etkisi olabilir. Bu derlemede Vitamin D metabolizması, Tip 1 ve Tip 2 DM ile ilişkisi tartışılacaktır. Türk Jem 2012; 16: 89-94
