VOCABULARY WHICH DEFINES FEATURES OF NONMATERIAL WORLD BOTH IN THE UKRAINIAN AND POLISH PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS WITH THE MEANING OF DISAPPEARANCE

Abstract

Purpose: The subject of the future research is Ukrainian and Polish phraseological units with the meaning of disappearance which include vocabulary that means nonmaterial features. First of all these are phraseological units which mean death, fatality as well as leaving, escape. The purpose of the article is to define the role of thewords that belong to the theme group of nonmaterial world, in creation of the phraseological meaning of disappearance in the Ukrainian and Polish languages. Methodology: Descriptive and comparative methods as well as the method of component analysis are used in the article to reach the goal. Finding: In Ukrainian as well as in Polish there is a big amount of phraseological units with the component of God referring to the Christian world view. A considerable amount of units in both languages that have a similar structure with such components as Soul, Spirit, Devil were defined. Practical value: The results of the research are applicable to teaching Polish and Ukrainian as foreign languages as well as to dictionary making. Results: The nonmaterial world vocabulary creates emotional-expressional background to the speech with clear separation of positive and negative attitude to the subject or situation. Phraseological units in both languages with the meaning ‘death’ relate to the Christian world view and express confidence in the fact that man’s life is in the hands of God. Among the Ukrainian phraseological units there are more units with the meaning of death, that contain the component ‘soul’. Only in the Polish language there is a phraseological unit with a component, which means ‘escape’.
