Abstract
Celem eseju jest omówienie pracy Piotra Kulasa pt. Inteligenckość zaprzeczona. Etos i tożsamość młodych inteligenckich elit w kontekście dorobku polskich badań nad samowiedzą inteligencji oraz analiz przemian znaczenia, statusu i publicznej roli tej kategorii społecznej. Na podstawie wywiadów z kilkudziesięciorgiem młodych przedstawicieli elit symbolicznych Kulas rekonstruuje między innymi ich stosunek do inteligenckiej samoidentyfikacji, opinie o społecznej roli inteligencji i podejście do innych klas społecznych. Oś badań stanowi kwestia długiego trwania inteligenckiego etosu w warunkach potransformacyjnych. Autorka niniejszego eseju stawia pytanie o to, na ile Kulas esencjalizuje i psychologizuje kategorię etosu inteligenckiego, a na ile rekonstruuje jej reprezentacje w dyskursie młodych inteligentów.
