Water Quality Analysis of an Organically Polluted Lake by Investigating Different Physical and Chemical Parameters
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2012, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
Chandola is the largest lake of Ahmedabad city. This lake is surrounded by large number of small scale industries and slums. The waste from the industries and surrounding localities is directly discarded into the lake. To evaluate the water quality of this lake, study was carried out for the period of one year (March 2009 to February 2010). Monthly water samples were collected to analyze different physical and chemical parameters and obtained results were compared with standard values [4-5]. The pollution status was investigated on the basis of obtained results of physical and chemical parameters of water [1-3]. High level of variation was recorded during analysis which was as a result of human activity and discharge of waste water to the lake. Very soon Chandola Lake will become biologically inactive if the similar condition will be continued for longer period of time.

Synthesis and QSAR Studies of Some New Phthalyl Substituted 4–Thiazolidinones and Thiazoles as Potential Antibacterial Agents
Literature survey has shown the biological potential of thiazoles and thiazolidinones .Hence some new phthalyl substituted 4-Thiazolidinones and thiazoles were synthesized to evaluate their behaviour. A QSAR study has al...
Consequences of Residual Aluminium from Alum Coagulant on Humans
Coagulation flocculation is one of the important unit operation in water treatment it removes suspended solids and other impurities from water with the help of coagulants. The most commonly used coagulant in drinking wat...
Evaluation of the Vitamin Content and Phytochemical Analysis of Plant Species from Northern India
Plants are a large source of new bioactive molecules with therapeutic potentiality. Only a small percentage of living plants on earth have been phytochemically investigated. Plants are thus an enormous reservoir of pharm...
Effects of Magnetized Low Quality Water on Some Soil Properties and Plant Growth
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of magnetic treatments on Tomato grown under saline irrigation conditions (Nile water, 1000, 3000, 6000, 9000 and 12000 ppm). In doing so, three replicates of pot...
