WHAT IS NEW MEDIA OR NOT?

Abstract

When it is considered that the whole processes that are currently lived through and will be lived through in the future have an absolute connection with technology; answering the questions “What is New Media and What is Not?” in a “ technical and theoretical” manner and revealing its innate “economic system concern” are of capital importance. It will cause wrong but conventional ideas and contents to be come out that a new concept hasn’t been explained completely and everyone interprets it as they personally understand. In our days it is observed that also in the concept of new media under the “New Media vs. Old Media” wrong but conventional content has started to emerge and even they indulged to scientific articles as to be presented in this study. Particular in the discussions of new and old media; the hypothetical boundaries between the concepts of channel and media is disappearing and they are being used as substitutes of each other. This situation creates an impression of theoretical gap in the concept of new media and causes the virtues that it can serve not understood completely.
