White and gray solidification of the Fe-C eutectic
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 3
Abstract
The mechanism of structure transition from stable to metastable eutectic is the object of the publication. The influence of micro-segregation elements on forming different phase, growth undercooling and growth rates was determined. Also competitive growth of both eutectic in alloys Fe-C was introduced.

Application of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) in study of phase transformations in ductile iron
The effect of heating rate on phase transformations to austenite range in ductile iron of the EN-GJS-450-10 grade was investigated. For studies of phase transformations, the technique of differential scanning calorimetry...
Assessment Criteria of Bentonite Binding Properties
The criteria, with which one should be guided at the assessment of the binding properties of bentonites used for moulding sands, are proposed in the paper. Apart from the standard parameter which is the active bentonite...
Friction wear cast iron casting surface hardened by concentrated source of heat
In this study surface fusion by the GTAW (in argon atmosphere) surfacing process on plate of cast iron with electric arc advance speeds from 200 to 800 mm/min and current range I=300A were performed. The geometry, micros...
Effect of gas corrosion on the character of phase boundaries in Ni3Al / WC composite
In view of quite specific physico-chemical and performance properties, the composite based on an intermetallic Ni3Al compound reinforced with tungsten carbides (WC) was selected for investigations. The said composite is...
Structure homogeneity as a parameter for evaluation of composite casting quality
The structure of composite materials is be usually described as a compound of two structural components called matrix and reinforcement, respectively. A classic, commonly known example is polyester resin reinforced with...
