Journal Title: BEST : International Journal of Management, Information Technology and Engineering ( BEST : IJMITE ) - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 8
Abstract
In Indian society women are thought to be as goddess and worshipped as ‘kanjak’ during Navratras. But it is also a fact that, they are ‘thought to be’ but not treated as goddess. From the ancient times, the status of women has been miserable. Women empowerment cannot be practiced just by giving considerations. It needs constant, continuous and comprehensive efforts on the part of the society. Every society requires both men and women for its survival. Therefore, it needs both men as well as women to bring women empowerment for the success of the society. Women population of the society alone cannot bring about women empowerment, but it requires the equal contribution of a male counterpart to bring the changes. The paper discusses how men can contribute to the economic and social development of women. Conclusion lies with the note that due recognition must be given to women and for this very purpose, the society; especially males should come forward to ensure equal status for women in all spheres of life.
