Abstract
One of the major objectives pursued by the European Union is the free movement of its citizens. It should be stressed that the technical aspects of this freedom are regulated in detail in a number of regulations and directives successively implemented into the regulatory frameworks of the Member States. The Regulation 2016/1191 of the European Parliament and of the Council on promoting the free movement of citizens by simplifying the requirements for presenting certain public documents in the European Union att empts to strengthen the position of the migrating citizen towards the authorities of the Member States in the context of flow of documents.
