Występowanie i zwalczanie jaglicy w II Rzeczypospolitej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem województwa wileńskiego

Abstract
Military conflicts which affected Poland during World War I, poverty of the population, lack of elementary resources needed for life - food, clothes, cleaning products and medicines, as well as the disastrous social and living conditions were the main reasons for the spread of the epidemic of dangerous infectious diseases, e.g. trachoma, which far-reaching consequences can lead to total blindness The authors of this article attempt to review the epidemiological situation prevailing in Poland in the interwar period with particular emphasis on the fight against the epidemic of trachoma in Vilnius province in 1918-1939. Konflikty zbrojne, jakie dotknęły Polskę w czasie I wojny światowej, bieda ludności, brak elementarnych środków potrzebnych do życia - pożywienia, odzieży, środków czystości oraz medykamentów, a także fatalne warunki socjalno-bytowe były głównymi przyczynami szerzenia się epidemii groźnych chorób zakaźnych, m.in. jaglicy, która w daleko idących skutkach może doprowadzić do całkowitej ślepoty. Autorzy dokonują próby przeglądu sytuacji epidemiologicznej panującej w Polsce w okresie międzywojennym, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem walki z epidemią jaglicy na terenach województwa wileńskiego w latach 1918-1939.
