Abstract
The article gives an overview of the 60-70 year history of the Fergana Valley. In this period, the valley was considered the most populous territory in the world, it was of strategic importance, so there were many interested parties who wanted to influence its internal political situation. In the history of the valley, one of the most difficult stages was the period when this territory turned out to be part of the Russian Empire and the Kokand Khanate. Conducting military policy, the use of armed forces by tsarist Russia, excessive taxes and lack of rights led to the plight of the people of Ferghana. The influence of the Islamic religion was great, and the main educational institutions were madrasahs. The author of the article, through facts and literature, shows how this complicated historical period influenced the social situation of the kyrgyz, uzbeks, tajiks.
