Youth Horizons of struggle for transport: the Zero Fee Movement in Belo Horizonte
Journal Title: Práxis Educativa - Year 2019, Vol 14, Issue 3
Abstract
This paper aims to present the results of a research on the context of the emergence of the Zero Fee Movement in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the meanings conferred by young participants to the political action carried out by them. The paper identifies the period of mobilizations in the city that preceded the movement, its configuration and main characteristics, as well as the limits and scope of its political action. The research was based on the militant co-research, theoretical-methodological perspective that starts from the premise of an engaged research, in order to question the existence of neutrality in the production of knowledge and the rigid separation between researchers and researched. Data were collected through participant observation, interviews, document analysis and monitoring of the movement in their social networks. The results of the research indicated a decreasing configuration of expectations from the challenges and constraints to action faced by young activists.
