Journal Title: World Science - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 7
Abstract
The article focuses on importance to extend the state educational program in “History of arts and crafts” by way of increasing lecture hours, in particular on Ukrainian arts and crafts and adding materials of private collections which sometimes can significantly transform our perception of diapason and function of art articles. The main task of the research is to suggest introducing into the course on arts and crafts the historical facts about the work of the Ukrainian porcelain factory of A. Miklashevsky in the middle of XIX century and art articles made on the factory which reflect ties of the local art traditions with the western European trends. So, we prove that Ukrainian porcelain is an integral part of European art. The author implements in the science circulation art articles of Miklashevsky from the private collection of Kyiv and states that the given material is enough to make a few lectures of full value about the porcelain factory located in village Volokitine (Sumska oblast). The collection to study includes vases, crockery, small plastic arts and interior decoration such as fireplace facing tiles, window frames and etc. Taking into consideration that the factory worked to make domestic, interior and sacred porcelain articles it can broaden the students’ idea about possibilities of porcelain plastic arts and describe the art tendency of the porcelain industry in the middle of XIX century. The most interesting are art articles made for living interiors and decoration of the local Pokrovska (Intercession) church where the iconostasis, some icons and almost all church objects were made of porcelain. The collection recommended to study includes the porcelain window frame which stylistically relates to the icon frames (the fact has been established by the archive photos); “Cherub” – a sculpture image on the wooden stand which could be an element of the church interior; the central part of the famous tabernacle which was made in the form of the Gothic chapel and was thought lost. Thus, we have added the archive photos, presented a number of unpublished porcelain articles and proved that using materials of even one private collection it is possible to teach the history of the Ukrainian porcelain factory of A. Miklashevsky and specify the art aesthetical program in the course “History of arts and crafts”.
