Ziarniniak szczytu piramidy kości skroniowej leczony z endoskopowego dostępu przez zatokę klinową

Abstract
Authors report a case of cholesterol granuloma of the petrous apex which was surgically treated by following an endoscopic approa ch. Based on this case authors review of the literature about recent managem ent of cholesterol granuloma s of the petrous apex. The tumor was approa ched endoscopically by a unilateral sphenoidotomy. Cholest erol granuloma was evacuated after localization of the carotid artery and the optic nerve. The patient recovered un eventfully. Transsphenoidal access to the petrous apex is a good alternative to lateral approaches. This acces is of choice when the cholesterol granuloma reaches the poster o-lateral wall of the sphenoid sinus. The transspheno id end oscopic approach, unlike lateral approaches to the petrous apex, does not disturb cochlear and vestibular function and allows postoperative endoscopic follow-up.
