Abstract

Rhinomanometr y (RMM ) is a technique known since a long time in the offi ce of ENT and allergy. It is used to test the resista nce of air fl owing throu gh the nasal cavity . This is a fast, cheap and non-invasive method. RMM is of great importanc e in research in the field of allergy and otola ryngology.Another method of objective tests of the nose is acoustic rhinometry, the result of which shows the graph of the geometry of the nose. This method is also non-invasive and simple to perform. RMM is used in the diagnosis of disorders of nasal patency, qualifi cations for nose surgery, studies the effects of drugs on the nasal mucosa, as well as the physiology and pathology of the nose. Acoustic rhinometry (AR) is used to evaluate side of the nose, followed by a swelling; it is a good tool for the diagnosis of nasal obstruction and is also a useful method for comparing pre- and post-operative outcomes in surgery of the nose. AR can be a tool used for the diagnosis and verifi cation of the treatment, both Rhinoogy and rhinosurgery. Acoustic rhinometry can be used before and after surgery such as septoplasty, turbinoplasty, rhinoplasty, in inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and OSA.It is also a reliable method, presenting the state of the nasal cavity before and following treatment such as in patients with allergic rhinitis, or in the diagnosis of allergy in nasal provocation tests. In this article we wondered about the meaning of RMM and AR in the diagnosis of pre- and post-operative patients with rynological problems.
