Abstract
The article is devoted to the customs and rites connected with childbirth, which was common in the villages of the lower reaches of the river Uzh in the 19th - first half 20th centuries. On the basis of field ethnographic materials and literature, the stock collection of the Transcarpathian Museum of folk architecture and life are analyzed the main ritual magical practices associated with childbirth and the first years of his life. The author describes in detail the prohibitions for pregnant women, the delivery, the first font, the ritual of the Church baptism, baby clothes, crib.
