A clinicopathological study of an acute abdomen requiring surgical management

Abstract
Background: Many diseases, some of which do not require surgical treatment, produce abdominal pain, so the evaluation of patients with abdominal pain must be methodical and careful. Methodology: An observational study on acute abdomen requiring surgical treatment was performed. All patients admitted to the surgery ward at KIMS, Karad with acute pain abdomen from June 2016 to December 2017 after meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. Conclusion: The commonest cause of acute abdomen was hollow viscus perforation. 2nd common being acute appendicitis. The accurate clinical assessment of acute abdominal painremains one of the more challenging areas.
