A Comparative Study of Authoritative and Cooperative Leadership Styles among the Managers of Fars Province’s Football Boards Considering the History of Performance and Different Ages of the Managers

Abstract
The aim of the present study is comparative study of authoritative and cooperative leadership styles among the managers of Fars Province’s football boards considering the history of performance and different ages of the managers. The study is done in descriptive and survey way and in terms of aim, it is in the category of applied studies. The population of the present study is consisted of presidents, vice presidents, and staff of football boards in Fars province which are 90 individuals that were selected using total census method. For data collection, standard question of leadership style by Lotanz having 35 questions based on authoritative and cooperative leadership styles in five point Likert scale was used. The validity and reliability of this scale was verified several times by LOTANZ (1987-1990)and again by Lotanz et al (1993) and Cronbach’s alpha in this study as obtained as equal to 0.76. the collected data were tested and analyzed through SPSS 17 and using independent t-test and ANOVA. The results indicated that from the perspective of the respondents, there is no difference between authoritative and cooperative leadership styles among the managers of Fars Province’s football boards and in terms of demographic characteristics, difference between authoritative and cooperative leadership styles only exists in terms of age and working history. It can be said that the managers that have higher age and more working history, understand the importance of cooperation and exchange of views with their employees and thus, are inclined towards cooperative leadership.
