A Comparative Study of the Effectiveness and Job Satisfaction among Employees of Shiraz Municipality in Term of Doing or Not Doing Exercises during Leisure Time

Abstract

This study attempts to compare the relationship between performance and job satisfaction among employees of Shiraz municipality in term of doing or not doing exercises during their leisure time. The current research is an applied study in term of the purpose and a survey in term of the nature. The research population consists of all employees of Shiraz municipality amounting to 2,000 people. Data collection tool includes two job satisfaction scales consisting of 19 questions which its validity was calculated to be 0.90 in this research and also effectiveness scale pf Inderbizen & Foster (2002) which contains 33 questions and its reliability of this questionnaire was calculated to be 0.83. It should be said that two questionnaire were prepared based on a five-item Likert scale. The results showed that leisure planning has influence on the effectiveness and job satisfaction of the employees. In other words, doing exercises improves job satisfaction and effectiveness of the employees for whom doing exercises has been assigned in their leisure times.
