A comparative study on in-vitro antioxidant activity of leaf and stem extracts of Lantana camara
Journal Title: International Journal of Novel Trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Antioxidants are the chemical agents that inhibit the oxidative damage to a target molecule and decrease the effects caused by free radicals and oxidative stress. Lantana camara belongs to family Verbenacea is used for this study. The ethanolic extracts of leaves and stem of Lantana camara were investigated and compared for their in-vitro antioxidant potential such as 2,2,-diphenyl-2-picryl Hydrazyl hydrate (DPPH),radical scavenging activity, NO scavenging activity, H2O2 scavenging activity after the Phytochemical constituents investigations. The results of DPPH activity, radical scavenging, NO scavenging activity, H2O2 scavenging activity of both leaf and stem extracts are compared and the leaf extracts are having the high radical scavenging activity than that of the stem extracts.
