A CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING ON CLINICAL APPROACH OF MADHUMEHA UPADRAVAS W.S.R. TO PIDAKA AND PILOT ANALYSIS OF SOME CASES

Abstract
Madhumeha vis-à-vis Diabetes mellitus in Ayurveda literature, a most familiar disease known since times immemorial even in puranicage. Madhumeha leads to many complications if left without care and is said to be incurable.Madhumeha is a kind of vata prameha, having chikitsa sutra of santarpana and apatarpana as and when needed. It is to consider a thorough evaluation of pathological state of an individual and in selecting a modality or a medicament. The present study is a curtain raiser in understanding the complications of Madhumeha, summerising the knowledge available in contemporary Ayurveda treatises, and to deduce some useful points in this regard. This study emphasizes the need of exploring pathogenesis of the condition to the core and the same in selecting the treatment. The study is supported with a pilot analysis of some cases.
