Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the issues of the Transcarpathian culture of the XVIII – early XIX centuries. The main attention is paid to the handwritten song-book of Mykola Vayda. Now this song-book is kept in the handwritten fund of the Transcarpathian Museum of Local Lore. M. Vayda’s song-book was rewritten nearly at the end of the 18th century. M. Vayda was a well-known figure in the national-patriotic movement of the 1920 – 1930s in Transcarpathia. The lyrics of the song-book represent a traditional song repertoire, which was used in Transcarpathia in the XVIII – XIX centuries. Many lyrics of the song-book are known from the Bohohlasnyk (Pochaiv, 1790 – 1791). The specificity of the songbook’s repertoire is that it contains many songs written by the authors from Transcarpathia. Their names and surnames have been preserved thanks to acrostic. Also, the song book has several songs for the glorification of miraculous icons, which are very popular in Transcarpathia. In the study, for the first time, an article-by-article incipient archeographic description has been made of the manuscript songbook, a source analysis has been made carried out, the manuscript has been estimated as a valuable object of the spiritualized culture of Transcarpathia, its close connection with the nationwide Ukrainian spiritual alias paraliturgic culture of the 17th–19th centuries has been given evaluation. The necessity of further music-source studies in the funds of Transcarpathian archival-museum institutions has also been emphasized. The song-book’s material is an important source for the textual research. Among the issues, that need to be considered in the further research, particular attention should be paid to the analysis of the local publications of the spiritual songs lyrics, as well as to the source studying of local periodicals.
