Journal Title: Revista Cuarzo - Year 2014, Vol 20, Issue 1
Abstract
Dr. Martha Fregoso Vergara begins the conference “A NEW WAY TO PRODUCE KNOWLEDGE”, raising questions to the audience, in order to promote reflection regarding their con-cept of education, research, educational research, motivation and importance of research, among others. Then, does a quick review of educational research in Latin America and how these issues are being applied in different countries. Based on the above considerations, Dr. Vergara introduces the audience to the “ The New Production of Knowledge”, according to Mi-chael Gibbons (Gibbons, Limoges, Nowotny, Schwartzman, Scott, and Throw, 1997), ending with a series of reflections related to the production of knowledge in universities and ins-titutional conditions for the proper research. During the conference, Dr. Vergara Fregoso reinforces several aspects, including the fact that it is impossible to separate teaching and research, how research results should help to improve the quality of education and the importance of cohe-rence between University research and its Mission and Vision.
