A Numerical Model for Estimation of Service Life of Tribological Systems of the Piston Engine
Journal Title: Tribology in Industry - Year 2017, Vol 39, Issue 3
Abstract
This article describes, develops and applies approach of the interaction of rough surfaces for one of the tasks of simulation of tribological systems of the piston engine. In this paper we described the general approach to building a model of interaction between rough surfaces, leading to the analysis of the Markov process. Given the initial data and the method of calculating the trajectory of movable elements on the lubricating layer, we determined the tribological parameters defining the service life of tribological systems of the piston engine on the example of crankshaft bearings.

Investigation of Wear Coefficient of Manganese Phosphate Coated Tool Steel
In recent years the properties of the coating in terms of wear resistance is of paramount importance in order to prevent the formation of severe damages. In this study, Wear coefficient of uncoated, Manganese Phosphate c...
Acid Aging Effects on Surfaces of PTFE Gaskets Investigated by Thermal Analysis
This paper investigates the effect of a prolonged acid attack on the surface of PTFE by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). PTFE is very non-reactive, partly because of the stren...
Analysis of a Rough Elliptic Bore Journal Bearing using Expectancy Model of Roughness Characterization
Performance characteristics of a rough elliptic bore journal bearing are studied. The bearing bore of isotropic roughness orientation is characterized by stochastic function and the film geometry is quantified to ellipti...
Static Friction Coefficient into Cylindrical Joints Assemblies
The aim of this research is to analyze the behavior of the transition between static and dynamic friction coefficient in a cylindrical joint, in order to reach high reliability when loads are acting. The friction between...
The Role of Diffusion Media in Nitriding Process on Surface Layers Characteristics of AISI 4140 with and without Hard Chrome Coatings
The surface layer characteristics of the AISI 4140 tool steel treated by nitriding gas before and after hard chrome plating utilizing pure nitrogen diffusion media (fluidized bed reactor) and the without gas (muffle reac...
