Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
The music genre, today known as the Contemporary Turkish Music, has been formed as a result of ongoing Turkish modernization. Having an objective sense, the term "contemporary" that is used to name the genre has lost the distinctness of its significance, with the values seeped into its definition from the term "modernity". Accordingly, some conceptualization problems may come up related to the music genre. Word of "Contemporary" which is used in the "naming of "Contemporary Turkish Music" led to incomprehensibility and it doesn’t attribute to objective qualities that will enable the conceptualization within the naming of the genre, it doesn’t characterize the genre in a correct way. However, since the term "contemporary" expression updated brings about its mobility, today or later it can also include all the conceptions other than scope of modernity. At this point, it is deemed necessary to make a change in the denomination of the "genre".
