A review on bioscaffolds for tissue engineering application
Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Engineering and Technology - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper reviews the current practices in the field of Tissue Engineering for Bone scaffold Applications. The mechanism of bone replacement or bone graft has been covered. The synthetic biomaterials and composites that are used for fabrication of scaffolds are reviewed. Scaffold requirements in terms of their mechanical properties, pore structure along with other biological properties are discussed. Finally, this paper also highlights the challenges faced in this industry and suggestions for further research and development of this field. Keywords: Tissue engineering (TE), bone scaffold, biomaterial, mechanical property
