A Short Term Study On Intra-Articular Platelet Rich Plasma And Hyaluronic Acid Injection In Symptomatic Early Osteoarthrosis Knee
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Traumatology & Surgical Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 0
Abstract
Objective:1. To evaluate the short term clinical outcome to intraarticular injection of PRP(platelet rich plasma) and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid in symptomatic early osteoarthrosis knee 2. To find out any adverse effects due to it, if any Study Design: The study was designed as a prospective clinical study where 16 patients detected with symptomatic early osteoarthrosis knee were recruited and were treated with intra-articular injections of autologous Platelet Rich Plasma with hyaluronic acid. Multiple evaluative scores were collected at pre-op, 1 month and 2 months post-op using 2000 IKDC (International Knee Documentation Committee) subjective knee evaluation form and visual analogue score. The data obtained was analyzed for statistical significance using repeated measures anova to obtain the difference in mean score between pre-op and 1 month pre-op and 2nd month and 1st month to 2nd month. Results: Findings of the study indicate that there is a statistically significant improvement in IKDC scores and VAS score with no adverse effects in patients treated with intra-articular PRP with Hyaluronic Acid injection in early osteoarthrosis. All patients showed significant improvement in all scores at 1 month and 2 months (P value < 0.001) and returned to previous activities. Conclusion:There was a statistically significant improvement in IKDC scores and VAS score in patients treated with intra-articular PRP with HA injection in early osteoarthrosis. There were no adverse effects reported following intra-articular PRP with HA injection in early osteoarthrosis.

To Evaluate The Role Of Platelet Rich Plasma As Artificial Hematoma In Bone Healing In Cases Operated With Open Reduction Technique
Aim: Platelets are the natural storage vessel for various growth factors and cytokines that promote blood coagulation, tissue repair, and bone healing. Platelets are the one present in the fracture hematoma which are res...
