A Statistical Estimation of the Level of Concentration of the Private Sector in the Market for Laboratory Medical Services in Ukraine

Abstract
The article offers methods for and presents results of a statistical estimation of concentration of the private sector in the market for laboratory medical services in Ukraine on the basis of calculation of the standard indicators of concentration (CR) and the indexes Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI). The carried out calculations of both the standard concentrations and the concentration indexes Herfindahl-Hirschman for the private sector of the market for medical laboratory services by the indicators of net income and the number of employees showed that this sector of the market should be considered as moderately concentrated and should be typologized as «monopolistic competition» (by number of employees) or «oligopoly» (by net income).
